I had Thursday and Friday off, and it just seemed like so much was going on so C and I wanted to get away for a bit. We left on Thursday afternoon after not sleeping enough, like always.
Thank you to Kimora Lee Simmons for designing these shades.
On the way to SD, there are random sand dunes. Just crazy amounts of sand all over. When I was younger, I was scared of quicksand.
When we arrived at our destination, we found that parking was a bitch. a god damn bitch. Excuse my French. (I later learn that English people do not like the French.) We had to park blocks away and carry all of our stuff to where we were staying. We ended up staying in a hostel in the Gaslamp district. The first thing we did was drive to Mission Beach. We originally planned on Pacific, but we were lost and ended up at Mission, so we stayed. It was freezing so I did not enter the ocean. I didn't even take any photos there.
Then we walked around Gaslamp and ate at a Mexican place. We had the BEST fajitas ever.
Then we came back and around 11 we decided to sleep because we were exhausted and wanted to be awake the next day. Around 11:30 two boys came in and occupied the 2 other beds in the room. They were from Coronado, which is the naval base off the bay. They were so funny and kept us up way too late.
The next day we woke up
and ate Thai.
it was decorated so nicely. I really wanted to steal the gold Buddha wall decor.
Twas good.
So if there was even a .0004% chance that a place resembling the Christian afterlife for the idolaters of their Christ, or "heaven", could exist, Thai tea is what would be served there.
Oh, since parking was a bitch, we had to wake up at 5 am to move our car from this lot we were parked at. Luckily, on certain holidays metered parking is free on the streets of SD. So, we found a close parking that we did not want to give up. We took the bus to Pacific Beach. Soo long.
Pacific Beach
It was so foggy. Yet somehow, so bright.
Mr. Lennon is everywhere. ♥
Okay, so I don't know if you can read those, but the first one says "I <3 U Marry....
Second says: "Marry me Julie"
So cute and it was funny that it was my name.
After the beach, we walked around a bit again. We were so tired like the whole trip so we went to Starbucks. After we waited like 40 minutes for the bus to take us back downtown. There were older Mexican guys there who were not very respectful. ugh
By the time we got back, I didn't feel like taking the bus back to see the fireworks, so we just ate dinner and went about downtown again. Mainly, we were looking into the clubs we could not enter. haha
That night we had two more male roommates. They were from England. They called their tortilla chips "crisps" and said "bullocks". I told one of them that I really want to go to Europe, and he just said, "Don't go to France." He spoke about how much he hates French people. It was interesting. Also, the British guys were frisky. Very, very, very. I quite fancied one of the boys a bit, so it wasn't all that bad. haha His friend was so drunk and became a bit annoying.
crackedddd ouuuttttttttt
I don't drink very often, but we were drinking vodka and cranberry juice. i drank much more than the none I usually do, yet was not inebriated in the slightest. I was pretty surprised.
This one was obsessed with "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey.
We were talking about music, and they mentioned that America's music is much shittier than England's. They introduced me to a song called "Valerie" by The Zutons, but they played Amy Winehouse's cover and I am in love with it. Go listen if you have not already.
So that night, we probably had 3 hours of sleep. At 7:50 I went to go put money in the meter to discover that the car had been towed without a single warning. We had to walk so far through the fucking ghetto to retrieve it. No joke, there were homeless people lining every block. It was so expensive to get it back. We were so pissed. Then we had to go back and check out. The drive back was soooo hot and we almost ran out of gas. overall, it was fun to get away, but there were some pretty ridiculous moments.
California is fun every once in a while, but SoCal is definitely not my type of place. I miss New York. I need to go really soon.
Night.
xo
